Obituary for Nathan Kelso Hamilton, Jr.

Nathan Kelso Hamilton, Jr.
Nathan Kelso Hamilton, Jr., 65, went to meet his Lord and Savior on January 14, 2017, surrounded by love at home in Montgomery, AL. Nathan was born September 4, 1951, in Selma, AL and spent his days impacting the Kingdom of Heaven through his love for people and his gift of music.

Nathan poured himself out to churches and people across the state of Alabama for decades as worship leader for multiple congregations and revivals, with his greatest joy coming from serving the Vacation Bible School at his home church, Central Baptist, in Dixons Mills, AL. Nathan also worked at La-Z-Boy for 29 years as service manager, known for his ministry of “fixing broken chairs for broken people.” Nathan will be remembered for his passion for Jesus Christ and His people, family, music and the outdoors.

Nathan was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, B.A. and Rosa Cogle; paternal grandparents, Denver and Grace Hamilton; Parents Nathan Kelso and Jane Cogle Hamilton. Nathan is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Elizabeth Moore Hamilton; children Shelly Hamilton Webb (Phillip), Kelso Hamilton (Brooke and grandson Bailey), Christine Hamilton Stevens (Doug) and Allison Hamilton; adoring siblings, Joy Nored (Julian) and Lee Hamilton (Karen). Nathan also leaves aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends that will dearly miss him.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Saint James United Methodist Church. Friends will be received at 9:30 a.m. and Pastor Walter Albritton will conduct the celebration at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to express their gratitude to Saint James United Methodist Church for their unwavering love and support throughout this journey.
