Terry Joe Counselman age 74 of Thomaston, AL died October 29, 2016 at his home. He was born January 15, 1942 in Mobile, AL to Truman E. and Edna H. Counselman. He was a graduate of the University of North Alabama and a veteran of the US Army. He was a retired teacher and former mayor of Thomaston, AL and a member of Thomaston Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Counselman of Thomaston, AL; two sons, Phillip T. (Laura) Counselman of Silver Hill, AL and Thomas Bruce (Annette) Gwin of Gallion, AL; son-in-law, Dennis Morgan of Thomaston, AL; nine grandchildren, Stewart (Molly) Gwin, Nathan Gwin, Andrew Gwin, Benjamin Gwin, Tracey (Garrett) Hollon, James (Bridgett) Morgan, Kathleen Morgan, Olivia Counselman, and Alice Counselman, five great grandchildren, Ethan Hollon, Bethany Hollon, Wesley Hollon, Emily Hollon, Ellyson Morgan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman E. and Edna H. Counselman, daughter, Daphne G. Morgan, and a grandchild, Christopher Gwin
Visitation will be held at Thomaston Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 from 12:00 noon until the 1:00 pm service time with Rev. Randall Mims and Rev. David Trawick officiating. Burial will be at Witch Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Campbell, AL.
