She was married in 1971 and celebrated her 49th anniversary with John Burt Oakes before his passing in February of 2020. Special thanks to Legacy Hospice for all their kindness and help. It is truly a special calling to be able to take care of people during their last days, and these ladies and gentlemen did it amazingly, truly a blessing to our family during our saddest and most difficult time.

Mama was a beautiful person, who didn’t meet a stranger and always had an optimistic prospective. She will be so very missed by many.
