Obituary for Theresa Darlene Thompson

Theresa Darlene Thompson passed away at her home on June 21, 2022. She was 51. Theresa was born on August 7, 1970, in Thomasville. She graduated from Thomasville High School and Shelton State Technical College in Tuscaloosa.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Sheffield Thompson; two brothers, Duane Allen Thompson and Robbie Whatley; a niece and nephew, Jacob and Rebecca Dunn; her maternal grandparents, Bill and Frances Sheffield; and paternal grandparents Ed and Winnie Thompson. Survivors include her father, Dan “Buddy” Thompson and stepmother, Phoebe Thompson; sisters Dana Dunn (Timmy), Donna Dungan (Lavon), and Cindy Miller; brothers Keith Thompson (Melinda), all of Thomasville; Dan Thompson, Jr. (Donna) of Tallassee, Tennessee; Lee Thompson (Jasmin) of Auburn; Clay Hannah (Carrie) of Pensacola, FL; and sister-in-law Julie Whatley of Thomasville, along with other relatives.

Those other relatives included nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews that were the lights of her life. She adored them, and the feeling was mutual. They loved to stay with “Snook”, and spent many days and nights in her company.

Nieces and nephews are Cameron Dungan of Auburn, McKenzie McHargue (Mitch) of Chelsea; and Conner Breland (Mike) of Chelsea; Jordan Webb (Justin), Evan Thompson (Stephanie), Peyton Thompson (Quin Clark), all of Thomasville; Mason Thompson of Tuscaloosa; Mackeon Harvell, Eliza Harvell, and Ellie Thompson of Thomasville; Jolie Rider (Christopher) of Loxley, Levi Thompson of Tallasee, TN; Evie Thompson and “Tripp” Thompson of Auburn; Jaqui Gunter (Jacob) of Thomaston, and Nikki Cooley of Thomasville; Charlie Hannah, Caroline Hannah, and Sam Allen Hannah of Butler; Hannah Whatley of Thomasville; Lauren Wilkins, Kathryn Melton, and Connie Thompson.

She also had great nieces and nephews—her “kiddos”--that she often babysat and who loved their
Snook. They are Corbin Webb, Aria Thompson, Addi Thompson, Emma Kate Clark, all of Thomasville;
Spencer Breland of Chelsea; Monroe “Roe” McHargue—who is on her way; and Alli Mills, Lexi Smith, and Joey Mills, all of Thomasville.

Theresa loved her family, and she also loved Auburn football. She was proud to have nieces and a
brother who graduated from the university. She had beloved friends and dogs that were as well cared
for as children.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 24, at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville.
Visitation starts at 10, with the funeral service following at 11 a.m. Rev. Tim Meherg will officiate.
Interment will follow at Sunny South Baptist Church Cemetery, with a graveside service by Rev. Holden Smith.
