Obituary for Sara Mayo

Sara Mayo age 85 went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 7, 2022. Graveside funeral services will be held at Hickory Grove Cemetery on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 2:00 pm where she will be laid to rest next to her husband of 66 years, George Edwin Mayo.

Sara was born August 26, 1936 in Nanafalia, AL to Quintus and Emma Bates. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. Sara served as her church’s Social Director for several years. In her spare time, she taught ceramics at the Warner Robins Recreation Center and Sara enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She was involved in many various ministries including the Christian Social Ministries (CSM) and Sara made hats for cancer patients and dresses for the Rehoboth Baptist Association Appalachian Ministries. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and she will be missed by everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents and husband, Sara is preceded in death by her grandson, David Walden.

Sara is survived by her children, Sheryl Walden (Tim) of Warner Robins, GA, Deborah Canady (Marty) of Dublin, GA, and Robert Mayo (Julie) of Bonaire, GA; twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; a host of extended friends and family.
