Obituary for Jon William Jordan

Jon William Jordan, age 61 of Thomasville, AL passed away suddenly on Friday, July 23, 2021 at Thomasville Regional Medical Center. He was born on April 19, 1960 in Grove Hill, AL to John McDuffie Jordan and Edith Evelyn Dozier.

Jon graduated from Thomasville City Schools, Class of 1978. Following graduation, he went to work for the City of Thomasville Street Department. He worked for the City of Thomasville for 23 ½ years until he had to take medical retirement due to health issues. Growing up Jon enjoyed getting together with Tony Reid and Curtis Pope and hunting raccoons. Jon was an avid Auburn Tigers fan and loved going to the games and tailgating with friends.

Jon was a lifelong member of Thomasville United Methodist Church in Thomasville, AL. Jon had a loving heart and always wanted to help others. Now he is helping others in a dramatic way by being a tissue and organ donor.

He was a loving husband, stepfather, and paw paw. He loved his grandchildren more than life itself. When they were around Jon just glowed, he was so happy to see them and spend time with them. They loved their paw paw so much and always looked forward to spending time with him and maw maw.

In addition to his parents John McDuffie Jordan and Edith Evelyn Dozier, Jon was preceded in death by his children, Caleb Andrew and Dixie Ann Jordan, October 9, 2009. He was preceded in death by grandson, Brody Ray Liles, May 27, 2020, grandparents John William Jordan and Rubye Burge Dozier. Uncle and aunt; Eroy Webb and Latrelle (Dozier) Webb, and uncle Gilmer Beverly, and aunt, Lanelle Dozier.

Jon is survived by his loving wife of 12 years Sherry Jordan, stepdaughter, Kathy Locklar, grandchildren; Nathan Keith page from Prattville, AL., Myles Laydon Locklar, Caitlin Alyssa Liles, Savannah Cheyenne Liles, and Brady Ray Liles all from Grove Hill, AL., and a host of cousins from Alabama, Florida, and Oklahoma.

Memorial services will be held at Thomasville United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at 2:00 pm
