Obituary for William Thomas Sansing

William Thomas Sansing age 90 of Myrtlewood, AL died June 9, 2021 at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was born January 27, 1931 in Woodstock, AL to James Davis and Lennie Rice Sansing. He was a graduate of Livingston Teachers College. He was a former elementary school teacher, and newspaper printer. He was a retired purchasing agent with James River Corporation. After retirement from the paper mill he started his own printing company. He was a member of Myrtlewood Methodist Church where he was a deacon, lay speaker, and Sunday school teacher. He was very active in the community, he served as fire chief of the Myrtlewood Fire Department for several years and was a councilman for the Town of Myrtlewood. He served in the US Army Reserve.

He is survived by four children, Annette Sansing Smith (Ned) of Carbon Hill, AL; Sherry Sansing Kelly (Kenneth) of Half Acre, AL; Bill Sansing, Jr. of Half Acre, AL; and Sandra Sansing Pearson of Myrtlewood, AL; a sister, Meria Gaynell Gilbert of Melbourne, FL; nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Madge Jordan Sansing; grandson, Eric Pearson; and brother, Donnie Hugh Sansing.

Graveside funeral services will be held at Campground United Methodist Church Cemetery on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at 2:00 pm with Dr. Fred Sakon officiating.
