Obituary for Earl Burge

Evie Earl Burge, 90, resident of Linden, AL died January 30, 2021 at his home surrounded by family. Mr. Burge was born March 26, 1930 in Putnam, AL to Julian Earl and Daisy Hudson Burge.

Mr. Burge was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 68 years, Emily Tyler Burge, granddaughter, Christine Burge and brother, Levester Lowell Burge.

He is survived by his children, Everett E. Burge (Kay) of Stuttgart, AR, David L. Burge (Jenny) of Calhoun, TN, Emily E. Burge of Montgomery, AL and Walton D. Burge (Candice) of Tuscaloosa, AL, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Mr. Burge served in the United States Navy during the Korean War as an Air Craft Chief. He also completed 3 Mediterranean cruises. He was an avid angler. He retired from the Naheola Paper Mill as an electrician and computer technician. After retirement he discovered a hidden talent and began to paint, carve wildlife and walking canes. He loved his family, his church and his community.

A private family service will be held Tuesday, February 2nd at the Linden United Methodist Church.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Wilson, Joe Friday, Joyce Yeager, Jackie Shields, Nell Stokes, members of the Linden United Methodist Church, attendees of the Linden Senior Citizens Center and retirees of Naheola Mill.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to the Linden United Methodist Church.
