Joe spent most of his life working as an Engineering Assistant for the State of Alabama, from where he retired. He loved spending time with his family, traveling, playing Rook, cheering on the Crimson Tide, and a good plate of cornbread, but mostly he just loved a good conversation. He never met a stranger and could find someone he knew almost anywhere he went.
An active member of the Magnolia branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joe had a true missionary spirit. While he never served a formal mission for The Church, he spent countless hours in his later years assisting the young elders who were assigned to serve theirs in the Magnolia area. He was a true friend to all who knew him, and he enjoyed helping out and serving others in whatever capacity he could, as he tried to emulate his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Graveside services will be held Friday, January 22, at 2:00pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Magnolia, AL. Social distancing is appreciated.
Arrangements by O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home.
