Great memories of hanging around "Goose Slide" back in the day Miss Betty Lynn was the only one in the world that could cook a grentle caught out of Satilpa Creek and make it taste better than catfish from Bobbys Fish Camp. She was a great lady and will never be forgotten. Jerry James

I’m so thankful for the fond memories of the summers my brothers and I spent in Coffeyville. Aunt Bett, as well as Uncle Ned, took good care of us. Whether it was a horse and wagon ride, bathing in the creek and 3 biscuit fortified meals a day. Some of Uncle Neds stories were hard to believe but Aunt was always there to confirm it. Will forever miss her.

This precious gem of a lady went home on Friday. My Grandmother, Dean and Gracie's Great Grandmother and to all of us in the family, and those that are practically family, lovingly know her as our "Ma". She was everyone's Ma come to think of it. This kind hearted, generous, funny and resilient woman would ask about you, worry about you and pray for you. And if she had your address, you'd get a card in the mail telling you that you were in her thoughts and prayers. She kept the greeting card companies and the US Postal Service in business. Ma was known for her hospitality by all. You couldn't even park your car outside before she was beckoning you in for a glass of tea or a plate of food. One of her many talents that I've always admired and been slightly green with envy over was that she conjured the magic of whipping up a three course meal from thin air! It was a sight to behold, no doubt. She'd almost sense the crunch of the gravel under tires and next thing you know there was cornbread, a pot of peas and jelly cake hitting the table by the time the welcome hugs were shared. And in true hostess fashion, she wouldn't eat a bite until everyone else had their fill. We'd always beg her to "fix a plate" but her satisfaction was watching us all enjoy and listening to the table chatter. Ma had her own vocabulary too. A few favorites of mine were "Chicargo", answering the phone "mmmello?", saying goodbye and "y'all be particular" and when you said something ridiculous, she'd toss a hand your way and say "awwww foot" (aka get outta town or good grief). I've shelled MANY a dish pan of peas and beans with her, shucked corn, cut okra (okree), dug potatoes and shook pear tree limbs side by side with her. She put me to sleep a thousand times by scratching my back. The very first expensive gift I bought for someone when I stood on my own two feet was a strand of lavender fresh water pearls for my grandma. She always looked so pretty in lavender. I could go on and on telling stories of how amazing "Beddalynn" Dunagan was and how much of an impact she has made on my life and the lives of others. But for now I'll just share that we love her, we will miss her dearly and I hope that each of you have been blessed or will be blessed to have a person as great as my Ma in your world.

My fondest memories were spending summers at here house. Eating lots of great food, spending hours picking and shelling peas. She even whipped me a couple times, I deserved it. Some of my best memories were made in Coffeeville Alabama at my aunts house.
