Obituary for Mildred B. Thrash

Mildred Lucille Barkley Thrash, age 91 of Sweet Water, AL went to be with the Lord on December 19, 2019 at Choctaw General Hospital. Services will be December 21, 2019 at Camp Ground United Methodist with Reverend Fred Sakon and Pastor Cory Dykes officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Ground Cemetery, with O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Thrash, Jr.; parents, Charles Victor Barkley and Lula Stokes Barkley; sisters, Barbara Crocker and Patricia Nichols; brothers, Chalmus Barkley, Billy Barkley, Duane Barkley, and Mack Barkley.

Survivors include her daughters, Faye Gunter (Roger) and Vonda Wilson; grandchildren, Patrice Gunter, Dan Gunter (Joy Lee), Jeff Nettles, and Clay Nettles; great grandchildren, Matthew Gunter, D. J. Nettles, Maci Nettles, Addison Gunter, and Keaton Grace Gunter.

Mildred was born in Linden, AL on August 30, 1928. She married the Love of her Life, Ernest Thrash, Jr. They were married 69 years until his death in February 2013.

Mildred loved her Lord, her family, and her church. She was faithful in her prayer and bible reading, even with failing eyesight and health. She loved her daughters and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always interested in what each of them was doing. She joined Camp Ground United Methodist Church when she moved to this community and was an active member for 71 years.

Pallbearers will be: Dan Gunter, Jeff Nettles, Clay Nettles, Matthew Gunter, D. J. Nettles, and Addison Gunter.

Mildred Thrash was loved by her family and will always be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother as well as a special friend to many.
