Obituary for Jack Larry Ackerman

On September 16, 2019, Jack Larry Ackerman of Thomasville, AL went to be with the Lord at the age of 78.

Jack was born in Lancaster, SC to Robert and Elise Ackerman. He worked in the particle board and saw mill industry for forty years in six different states. He retired from Weyerhauser in 2003.

Jack never met a golfer or a golf course he didn’t like. He never met a fish he didn’t want to catch or a piece of lumber that he didn’t want to build something. He believed that sunrise was the start of the day and moonrise was no reason to stop, “that’s what lights on a golf cart are for.” “There will be time to rest when I can’t do anything else.” The vision of Jack in his orange golf cart with clubs on the back and fishing rods sticking through the windshield will remain in our hearts forever. Rest in peace “Ruby”.

Jack is preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his brother, Patrick.

He is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons, Scott Ackerman and Stace Ackerman (Tammy); daughter-in-law, Wendy Wood; two grandchildren, Tess Elise Agee (Chad) and Ty Ackerman; two great grandchildren, Ash Agee and Jack Gaines Agee; two brothers, Bobby Ackerman and Charles Ackerman (Karen); three nephews, Jack Ackerman (Sheila), Brady Ackerman, and Ryan Ackerman (Shanna).

The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice for their wonderful help and kindness during this difficult time. Your team was a total blessing.

A private ceremony will be held for the family. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Memorial donations may be made to the Thomasville United Methodist Church.

Arrangements by O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home.
