Obituary for Billy George Rikard

William George Rikard age 92 of Pensacola, FL died August 28, 2019 at his home. He was born on October 21, 1926 in Selma, AL. He grew up and lived most of his life in Pine Hill, AL. He was a graduate of Pine Hill High School. He served in the US Navy during World War II as a Navy Seaman 1st Class. He served on the USS Arlington Ship in the Pacific. He worked for the Alabama Department of Transportation for a while before returning home to raise cattle and cotton and to take care of his mother. He was a member of the Civitan Club in Pine Hill, AL. He moved to Thomasville, AL in 1989 and joined the Lion’s Club and The Gideon’s International. He was saved at an early age and was a member of Marcus Pointe Baptist Church. In 1993 he met Sara Lavender Gibbs, whom he married June 3, 1993. Later they moved to Perdido Key, FL and then to Pensacola, FL.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Lavender Rikard; four step-daughters, Betty Moore Paul, Alice Moore, Shirley Gibbs Sammons, and Linda Gibbs Ashworth; two step-sons, Edward John Gibbs and Kenneth Eugene Gibbs; step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Oscar and Lucille Eleanor Rikard; brother, Ralph Miller Rikard; his beloved first wife, Dora McNider Moore Rikard; step-daughter, Kathy Moore; and nephew Rick Rikard.

Graveside services will be held at Forest Springs Cemetery on Friday, August 30, 2019 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ty Parten officiating.
