Roger Eugene “Gene” Etheredge age 78 of Surginer, AL died July 7, 2019 at his home. He was born May 8, 1941 in Linden, AL to Willard E. and Evadine Etheredge. He was a retired beater engineer with Georgia Pacific Corporation and former fire chief of the Surginer Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dean Etheredge of Surginer, AL; two sons, Roger Wayne Etheredge and Jeffrey Alan Etheredge (Edith) of Surginer, AL; daughter, Nedra Etheredge Payne (Billy) of Northport, AL; mother, Evadine Etheredge of Surginer, AL; two sisters, Patricia Ann Davis and Sherry Dale Harrison of Surginer, AL; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Etheredge.

Visitation will be held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Rev. John Coker, Rev. Glenn Akridge, and Rev. Les Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
