Freeman Edward Smith age 82 of Thomasville, AL died June 25, 2019 at Thomasville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born January 23, 1937 in Georgia to Willie Freeman and Jewell Smith. He was a former millwright and also a former fire fighter in Chattanooga, TN. He was a member of Thomasville Church of God and a veteran of the US Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Stephens Smith of Thomasville, AL; son, Stephen Edward Smith of Ocean Springs, MS; two daughters, Regina Smith Jones (Carl Ray) of Dixons Mills, AL and Darla Smith Lyles (Mark) of Thomasville, AL; five grandchildren, Chip Jones (Valerie) of Brookwood, AL; Lacy Ritenburgh (Eli) of Alabaster, AL; Joey Smith (Jessica) of Ocean Springs, MS; Drew Lyles of Thomasville, AL; and Addie Lyles of Thomasville, AL; three great grandchildren, Brayden Jones, Ella Ritenburgh, and Alden Ritenburgh.

Visitation will be held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Thomasville Church of God on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville, AL.
