Obituary for Joe Eddie Lashley

Joe Eddie Lashley was born to William Thomas Lashley and Lillian McClurg on October 13, 1931 in Chambers County, AL. He married the Love of his life, Peggy June Harrison on October 14, 1950. They had four children together: Alan (Karen) Lashley of Demopolis, Joey (Lynn) Lashley of Livingston, Andy (Donna) Lashley of Molino, FL and the late Sherry Plemmons.

Joe earned degrees from both Auburn University and MSU in Agriculture. He was retired from the Auburn University Agricultural Extension Service. Joe served the counties of: Coffee, Conecuh, Sumter, and Perry. He also served as 4-H Clubs Advisor, Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church in Livingston. He also worked as a real estate agent for Century 21. As well as having owned River City Landscaping in Demopolis, as well as the L&L Bait Shop in Livingston. He was a US Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War.

Joe was an avid fisherman, lover of animals, and a collector of unique finds.

Joe also left behind six grandchildren: Elizabeth Lashley of Demopolis, Angie (James) Solliday of Cantonment, FL, Shannon McHan, of Greer, SC, Jay (Ann) Lashley of Huntsville, AL, Marcus (Christine) Lashley of Starkville, MS and Whitney Jerkins of Molino, FL, along with 7 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Lillian, as well as his wife, Peggy Lashley, his brothers, William Henry and Jack Lashley, sisters, Alma Danford and Jessie Pearl Nolen. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Sherry Plemmons.

Graveside funeral services will be held at Demopolis Memorial Gardens on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Tommy Carr officiating.
