Myrtis Glass Locke Harris, age 85 of Jefferson, died Sunday, April 15. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lizzie and Acy Glass; husbands Jerome Wheat, Buddy Locke, and Dick Harris; and sons Donald Joe Wheat and John Allen Locke; and eight siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Baker (Wayne) of Jefferson; daughter-in-law Linda Wheat of Eutaw; grandchildren Carolyne Baker, Cody Baker (Libba), Amber Kelsey, Christy Megginson, Melinda Oats (James), and Andrea Von Helton; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Margie Harner; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 18, at Jefferson Baptist Church, with funeral to follow at 11.

Pallbearers are Cody Baker, Jay Cole, Dave Compton, Lewis Compton Jr., Mason Milner, Mack Tucker, Steve Waddell, and Buster Ward.

Myrtis was a member of Jefferson Baptist Church, and a member of the Jefferson community for 60 years. She loved Jesus, sang joyfully in the choir and was a past president of Jefferson Community Club. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and co-worker who greeted every person she met with a hug and a kiss.
