Bobby Joe Matthews age 78 of Saraland, AL died February, 24, 2018 at his home. He was born November 12, 1939 in Chilton, AL to Harold E. and Lillie Edna Matthews. He was a retired power house operator with Internation Paper Corp. He was a member of Redemption Church in Mobile, AL and a veteran of the National Guard.
He is survived by two daughters, Lisa Matthews Bray of Saraland, AL; and Deborah Schneider of Wilmer, AL; one step daughter, Tracy Powell Turner of Bonaire, GA; one step son, Steve Powell of Milledgeville, GA; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Diane B. Matthews, his parents Harold E. and Lillie Edna Matthews, brother, Edward Matthews, and step daughter, Kim Powell Green.
Visitation will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am service time with Rev. Colan Davis officiating. Burial will be at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Grove Hill, AL.
