Obituary for Grace Irene Phillips

Our Dear Aunt Grace went to be with Our Savior Jesus Christ and she gained her heavenly wings on January 1, 2018 at the age of 89 at Grove Hill Memorial Hospital. Grace's life was a blessing, her memories will be treasured, she is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. Ms. Grace was born on May 10, 1928 to the late Jack and Betty McGee McManus. She attended Dixon Mills School and Magnolia High School in Marengo County. Grace met and married her husband Orice Phillips from Thomasville, Alabama and they moved to Pensacola, Florida. Grace would continue to care for her mother, Betty McGee McManus until her death. Grace was a homemaker and caretaker, while her husband worked in the Navy at Pensacola Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida. Her husband, Orice retired from Pensacola NAS. Grace lived life to the fullest in her 89 years on this earth. She was a great cook and made the best potato salad. Aunt Grace was a dear aunt to all, who listened well, and had a keen sense to her. She'd lend a wise word or two which would no doubt bring about laughter. Grace will be remembered for her quick wit and straight forwardness and her abundant love for her family and friends. Grace believed in Jesus Christ and said, "I am ready to go." We prayed to "Our Savior" before she went to see His beauty. She will be remembered for her humor and for just simply being our "Amazing Grace."

She is preceded in death by her parents, the late Jack and Betty McGee McManus; her husband, Orice L. Phillips; sisters: Mildred "B." Stringfellow, Evelyn Braswell, and Daisy Gunter; brother, Harding McManus.

She is survived by her devoted brother: Ivin "Sonny" McManus (Etta) of Fulton, Alabama; sister, Peggy Joyce Sheffield of Daphne, Alabama; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews who love you dearly.
