Leila Bell Newton, age 87 a homemaker of Grove Hill, AL died July 27, 2016 at Mobile Infirmary. She was born March 18, 1929 in New Prospect, AL. She was a member of Tompkins Baptist Church in Grove Hill, AL.
She is survived by her three daughters, Elaine (Elma) Averett of Grove Hill, AL; Lynn (Randy) Gates of Thomasville, AL; and Janet (Bill) Pierce of Grove Hill, AL; daughter-in-law, Edith Newton of Grove Hill, AL; three sisters, Nettie Craft of Grove Hill, AL; Merle (Billy) Black of Repton, AL; Dot (Ernest) Bell of Thomasville, AL; Ralph (Maxine) Armistead of Grove Hill, AL; twelve grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Newton, son, Wilbur Newton, and parents, Owen B. Armistead and Lena Rivers Armistead.
Visitation will be held at Tompkins Baptist Church on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 1:30 pm until the 3:00 pm service time with Dr. Johnny Kendrick, Rev. Don Newton, and Rev. Bill Faircloth officiating. Burial will be in the Tompkins Baptist Church Cemetery in Grove Hill, AL.
