Obituary for Gladys Mae Carleton

Gladys Mae Parish Carleton age 93 of Thomasville, AL died March 4, 2018 at her home. She was born August 14, 1924 in Gaskins FL the daughter of the late Robert Wyatt and Mozelle Parish.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Eldred Carleton; her daughter, JoAnn Ott, and granddaughter, Kelly Ott.

She is survived by her two daughters, Phyllis Carleton (Steve) Stephens of Tyrone, GA and Ginger Carleton (Ricky) Weldy of Thomasville, AL; five grandchildren, Aaron Ott, Stephanie Martin, Derek (Brandie) Stephens, Beau (Bridgette) Gunter, and Brea (Andy) Wiggins; seven great grandchildren, Alexis Ott, Gracie Martin, Breelyn Garrick, Gray Wiggins, Eden Gunter, Mason Stephens, and Jack Stephens.

She was a member of the Thomasville Baptist Church and has lived in Thomasville for the past 74 years.

Gladys loved the Lord and her family very much and her last wishes for them was to do the same; “Love the Lord”, “Love each other”, “Stay together”. She was known in the community for her delicious pound cakes and loved to share them with her family and friends. She always loved being a homemaker and was an excellent seamstress, loved crocheting, cooking and food preservation.

Visitation will be held at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 9:00 am until 10:30 am. Graveside funeral services will follow at 11:00 am at Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville, AL.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Thomasville Baptist Church in Memory of Gladys Carleton.
