Obituary for Inez Vick Piper

Inez Vick Piper was born June 11, 1929 in Surginer, AL to Elbert Vick and Irene Leonard Vick. She passed from this life on January 21, 2018 at Thomasville Health Care and Rehabilitation Center with cherished family by her side.

She was preceded in death by her husband John L. Piper. She is survived by a brother Ray Vick of Ft. Walton Beach FL; daughter Vickie (Tim) Fendley of Thomasville, AL; granddaughters Emily Bell of Brandon, FL and Jennifer Bell of Tampa, FL; great granddaughter Rachel Inez Rothenbusch of Tampa, FL; and several cousins.

Inez was retired from J. C. Penney Corporation in Selma, AL and was a member of Barrett Road UMC in Selma. In her retirement years she thoroughly enjoyed serving as a Pink Lady in the Ladies Auxiliary at Selma Medical Center and giving tours at Sturdivant Hall. Always busy, she was never happier than when working in her yard among her flowers and plants that covered the landscape. Inez still found time to be of service to her friends and neighbors and share her gift of playing the piano at a Selma nursing home. She was known for her beautiful smile.

Visitation will be Wednesday January 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. at O’Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Thomasville, AL. Dr. Larry Teasley will officiate. Burial will be in the Wesley Chapel cemetery in Surginer, AL.

Serving as pallbearers are Rex Leonard, Wayne Leonard, Tim Fendley, Gerry Fendley, Terry Smith and Jimmy Andrews.

Flowers are appreciated or donations to Barrett Road UMC 615 Barrett Road, Selma, AL 36701 or the church or organization of choice.

A heartfelt thank you to all of the staff at THCRC for their loving care and especially to Brianna for her attendance in the final hours.
