David E. "Gene" Shirley age 75 a truck driver of Demopolis, AL., died August 5, 2017 at DCH Regional Medical Center. He was born February 6, 1942 in Selma, AL to Ford and Louise Shirley. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Demopolis and was an avid University of Alabama fan and Nascar fan.
He is survived by five step children, Harold (Colleen) Yoder, Deborah (Foy) Wright, Tom (Monelle) Clifton, Pat Puckett, and Vicki Andrews: 9 grandchildren, Herron Yoder, C.J. Davis, Brooke (Jason) Turberville, Michael Clifton, Tom (Cara) Puckett, Chris (Michelle) Puckett, Scott (Tonya) Puckett, Crystal (C.W.) Woodward, and Jay (Lisa) Andrews; and 15 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ford and Louise Shirley, and two wives, Helen Goings Shirley and Sara Vaughan Shirley, and a grandchild, John Puckett.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Demopolis Memorial Gardens on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:30 am with Rev. Carl Williams officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Demopolis City School Foundation.
