Donald Briggs Murray age 76 of Thomasville, Alabama died in Mobile Infirmary on November 24, 2016.
He was born May 7, 1940 in Baton Rouge, LA and was a retired Examiner of Public Accounts for the State of Alabama and a member of Thomasville Baptist Church. He enjoyed politics, history and economics. He was a 32 Degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite, American Legion, and Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Frances Cobb Murray of Thomasville, AL; his daughter and son-in-law, Alicia Frances and Walt Conn of Auburn, AL and Darien, CT; his daughter Elizabeth Anne Reardon of Katy, TX; his daughter and son-in-law Tara Briggs and Aaron Marin of Marietta, GA; his six grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Conn, Emily Frances Conn, Caroline Elizabeth Conn, Glen (Trey) Allen Reardon, III, Jack Murray Reardon, and Sabrina Marin; and his aunt Mary Briggs Boyd of Meridian, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Eloise Briggs Murray and Wilson Harold Murray and two brothers, Jon Wilson Murray and Aaron Albert Murray.
Visitation will be held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home, Thomasville, AL on Saturday, November 26th from 1:00 -2:00 pm and at Briggs Chapel Memorial Church, Porterville, MS on Sunday, November 27th from 1:00 until the 2:00 pm service time with Rev. Nick Holden officiating assisted by Rev. Ty Parten.
Pallbearers will be Bill Briggs, Greg Briggs, Clint Collins, Jon (Bud) Murray, Matt Murray, and Tim Elliott.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Briggs Chapel Memorial Cemetery Fund, C/O Greg Briggs, 8385 Hwy. 498 East, Porterville, MS 39352, Thomasville Baptist Church, The American Cancer Fund, or the charity of your choice.
