Bettie Claire Hall Dortch age 85 of York, AL died September 22, 2016 at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. Graveside funeral services will be held at Choctaw Corner Cemetery in Thomasville, AL on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 11:00 am.
Mrs. Dortch was born September 16, 1931 in Thomasville, AL to the late J. R. Hall and Ruby Malone Hall. She was a graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile, AL. She was the co-owner of the Western Auto Associate Stores in York and Livingston for 30 years, where she was known for her diligence and dedication to her customers. She was a faithful member of the York Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death her husband of 55 years, John D. Dortch, Sr., her sister, Ramona Dean Hall.
Survivors include her son, John Douglas (Judy) Dortch, Jr. of Birmingham, AL; daughter, Maria Dortch (Glen) Hardy of Tuscaloosa, AL; her grandchildren, Corrie Dortch Zimmerman of Navarre Beach, FL; John Douglas (Megan) Dortch, III of Jacksonville, FL; Charles Glen Hardy, Jr. of Franklin, TN; James Douglas Hardy and Emily Faith Hardy of Tuscaloosa, AL; her sister, Barbara (Terry) Wilkerson of Monroeville, AL; her nephew, Andrew Wilkerson of Jacksonville, FL and his children, Drew and Quinn Wilkerson, her niece, Ashley Wilkerson (Jimmy) Black of Andalusia, AL and their children, Will and Katie.
The family wishes to express special thanks for her caregivers at Brookdale Senior Living in Northport, AL; Heritage Health Care and Rehabilitation in Tuscaloosa, AL; and the Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL.
