Obituary for Agnes Carolyn Adkins

Agnes Carolyn Coate Adkins, age 95 of St. Augustine, FL., passed away on April 9, 2015 at the Samantha Wilson Care Center at Bayview in St. Augustine. Agnes was born November 28, 1919 to Livingston and Sallie Coate in Opine, Alabama. She grew up in Opine and Thomasville, Alabama and graduated from Thomasville High School. She worked as a buyer for Raphaels, a exclusive woman’s clothing clothing store in Mobile, Alabama. For many years Agnes managed country clubs in Alabama, including Isle of Dauphin Country Club, Birmingham Country Club, and Indian Hill Country Club in Tuscaloosa. She retired in the early 1970’s and returned to Opine, Alabama and was a member of Bashan Baptist Church. She had been a resident of St. Augustine since 1990.

She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Hortenstine of St. Augustine, Florida, and many nieces and nephews.

She was interred in Campbell Cemetery in Campbell, AL
