Velma Lee Phillips age 87 of Robertsdale, AL and a former resident of Sandflat, AL died March 19, 2015 at her home. She was born December 22, 1927 in Sweet Water, AL. She was a former nurse and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Demopolis, AL.

She is survived by five children, Gail Hedrick of Demopolis, AL; Ronnie (Sharon) Phillips of Fairbanks, AK; Ruth (Billy) Symon of Demopolis, AL; Julie (Jim) Dailey of Robertsdale, AL; and Dean Booen of Demopolis, AL; four sisters, Nell Pugh of Bashi, AL; Shirley Stokley of Semmes, AL; Pat Baggett of Brewton, AL; and Alice (Emmett) Craven of Winnsboro, SC; brother, Dan Strickland of Wildwood, MO; three sisters-in-law, Flora Dean Gates, Molly Jo Phillips, and Vonciel Phillips, 29 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy M. Phillips, parents, Erma and Alex Strickland, daughter, Opal Booen, son-in-law, Wes Hedrick, grandsons, Tony Hoven and Mike Hedrick, sisters, Mary Ethridge, Eyvonne Stokes and many loved sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

Visitation will be held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Funeral services will be held at O'Bryant Chapel Funeral Home on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Tommy Carr and Rev. Benny Crawford officiating. Burial will be in the Midway Baptist Church Cemetery in Thomasville AL.
